View ListingsWelcome to the locations of Ponta Mamoli, Ponta do Ouro and Ponta Malongane - all within 17kms of each other and just outside the Kosi Bay/Ponta do Ouro border post of South Africa. Accessible only by 4x4's,These holiday destinations are very popular for South Africans because the drive is not that long, very comfortable (mainly South African roads - no potholes) and boasts to have some of the best dive sites in Mozambique.
Keep in mind that Ponta do Ouro is the only village (close-by) that has petrol & Diesel. So if you are running out of fuel, then you know where to go! If you are going to Ponta Mamoli, then make sure you stop off at Massinga for supplies, as Ponta Mamoli does not have a small shop for basic supplies. There are NO ATMS in either of these towns, so make sure you have drawn the money you need BEFORE you get to either of these destinations. Rands (ZAR) currency is accepted!
If you are a diving or fishing enthusiast, then this is a perfect destination to spend your holiday. Go spend some time exploring the corals and depths of warm Indian Ocean and witness zambezi sharks, hammerheads, potatoe bass and the many beautiful coral fish that inhabit the reefs. Boasting a wide variety of reefs (including a many shallow reefs), you cannot be more spoilt!
Even if you are not below the waters, dolphins, Whale Sharks and turtles can be spotted. In fact, during the times between November and March, Leatherback and Loggerhead turles often visit the beaches to nest their eggs - a very interesting site!
Bird enthusiasts would like to know that the southern parts of Mozambique are home to a wide variety of bird species, including the Fish Eagle. Why not take a scenic drive up towards Lake Piti, a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the day’s sunset. You can also spot some small game on the way up, such as: Inyala, Red Duiker, Reedbuck and Suni and as well as Crocodiles and Hippos!
You are either in the mood to do some serious deep sea angling or a bit of fly fishing, then don't hold back! Go and book yourself in on a well-equipped fishing charter for the day and catch something delicious for the braai later that evening!
Horse riding is another activity to enjoy and all levels of riders are supported. Quad bikes can also be hired and Kite Surfing is becoming more and more popular at these destinations.
With miles of beaches and no one to be seen, Ponta Mamoli / Ponta do Ouro / Ponta Malongane offers some stunning un-spoilt beaches for you to explore, even if you are only there, for the simple pleasures of relaxing on the beach, soaking up the sun!
